Roquetes, 18 September 2013. The European project SWING (Short Wave critical Infrastructure Network based on a new Generation high survival radio communication system), whose Co-beneficiaris are “Istituto Nazionale di Geofisica e Vulcanologia” (INGV), Italy, “National Inter-University Consortium for Telecommunications” (CNIT), Italy, “National Observatory of Athens” (NOA), Greece, and Ebre Observatory, will celebrate next 1 of October of 2013 a dissemination seminar on their activities at Ebre Observatory.
SWING is designed to evaluate the threat and increase the security awareness, as well as the level of protection, of analogous and/or interdependent European Critical Infrastructures (ECIs). The SWING system is thought to replace broad band internet communication, maintaining the minimum flux of essential information for the ECIs management and control, in case of wide scale threats, including terrorist attacks, able to put out of order internet links over the Mediterranean region.
The seminar will be held the morning of October 1 and will consist of a brief introduction and overview of the session, a brief presentation on the activities of the Observatory and its contribution to the project SWING and three technical talks on the activities in SWING project framework. The talks will describe the headlines and aims of the project, the internet failures and physical layer architecture, and the new technology involved in the SWING system. The seminar will be held in English and will end with a discussion between attendees and speakers. You can download the agenda and documentation on this LINK .
